European Seaports Organization – ESPO
The European Ports Union (European Seaports Organization – ESPO), is the corresponding Association to E.LIM.E. at European level. ESPO was founded in 1993 and its members are either individual European ports or National Associations of European Ports.
E.LIM.E. together with O.L.P. and O.L.Th. hold the three Greek seats in its General Assembly, constituting the Greek delegation in order to represent the views of as many Greek ports as possible. ESPO is one of the most important interlocutors of the EU on issues of European Port Policy.
ESPO’s work is carried out through its Technical Committees, which are composed of executives from European Ports, who are proposed by the European Port Associations. These executives work on all current issues of the Port industry and meet approximately twice a year to elaborate and finalize ESPO’s positions on all current issues. There are eight of these Committees (Port governance, Intermodal and Logistics, Sustainable Development, Marine Affairs and Security, Economic Analysis and Statistics, Passengers, Labor and Operations, Legal Advisory). Representatives from the Greek Ports – members of E.LIM.E. participate in all these Committees.
ESPO's work is completed with the meetings of the Executive Committee and the General Assembly, in which the Greek Port Industry is represented with one and three seats respectively.
